Some transfers suck, but that shouldnât be many, especially if itâs coming from a boutique label. Itâs usually a worthy upgrade from 1080p to 4K if they have the equipment to do so. Also in regards to picture quality ratings, a 4-star for a Blu-ray film vs a 4k film is not the same. Thatâs like rating a Toyota Corolla 2010 vs a 2022.
IMO any of the 4K blu-rays that are upscaled 4K might not be worth it to upgrade if you already own the Blu-ray. Yes it will look slightly better and has hdr which adds to it, but itâs not a huge improvement. If you have a 7.1 surround or atmos setup though, that may be a better reason to upgrade. The 4K transfers are a very impressive upgrade from the Blu-ray discs that were released back in 2013. The Blu-ray release of Raiders had suffered from the film being over saturated, which resulted in the characters looking orange at times. This has been fixed and the skin tones are much more natural.
